This course is an overview of the Alfresco Collaboration Connector for Microsoft 365 which is available on both the Alfresco Digital Business Platform and Alfresco Content Services.

The Alfresco Collaboration Connector for Microsoft 365 helps organizations increase user productivity with seamless, real-time collaboration, both inside and outside the enterprise, ensures compliance with information lifecycle and government policies and improves user adoption by integrating tools necessary to user-specific jobs.

The new connector helps organizations avoid content silos by managing all Microsoft Office documents within the Alfresco platform, ensuring  a single source of the truth and securely managing documents from creation to final destruction or archival. With a native integration between the Alfresco and Microsoft platforms, organizations receive the best of breed capabilities from both products, surfacing the right information at the right time to enhance user adoption and provide exceptional customer experiences.

At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Explain the required configuration changes for the Connector
  • Online Edit Microsoft files using Word, Powerpoint and/or Excel
  • Share Office documents with collaborators
  • Co-Author Office documents with collaborators in real-time

Time Required: ~30 minutes

Prerequisite Courses

There are no specific courses required for this course.

Prerequisite Knowledge

This course presumes that the student is familiar with the following tools, techniques and concepts:

  • Alfresco Content Services
  • Alfresco Digital Workspace
  • Working knowledge of Docker (if deploying in Docker)
  • Previous knowledge in installing and/or upgrading Alfresco Content Services
Note

This course is not intended to cover installation and deployment in detail.

Prerequisite Resources

The following resources will be required to follow along with the demonstrations provided in this course:

  • An Alfresco Content Services environment configured with the Collaboration Connector for Microsoft 365
  • Microsoft 365 access and the account credentials for two different users
  • The URL for the Alfresco Digital Workspace and account credentials for two different users - this is specific for the Collaboration exercise
  • Two different web browsers, for example, Firefox and Chrome to be used for the collaboration lesson - this is specific for the Collaboration exercise
Use a Non-Production Environment

Alfresco would recommend that the steps for this course are performed in a non-production environment.
