Overview

This course will provide you with a tutorial on how to install Alfresco Content Services using the Distribution Zip packages. Upon completion of the course, you will have deployed a fully functional Content Services environment along with the most commonly used services and components.

Tip

The course is specifically targeted at those customers who would like to deploy Alfresco Content Services 6.0 and later using a non-containerized deployment approach.

What Will I Learn?

At the end of this course you will be able to perform all of the below using the Distribution Zip i.e. a non-containerized deployment:

  • Deploy and configure dependencies (Database, Java, Apache Tomcat, Apache ActiveMQ)
  • Deploy and configure Content Services
  • Deploy and configure Search Services
  • Deploy and configure the Transform Service
  • Deploy and configure the Sync Service
  • Deploy and configure Office Services
  • Deploy and configure the Google Docs Integration
  • Deploy and configure the Digital Workspace
  • Deploy and configure optional modules

Prerequisite Knowledge

This course presumes that the student is competent with the following tools, technologies and concepts:

  • Linux
  • Command Line Interface (CLI)
  • Installing Applications
  • Using a Text Editor
  • Using a Web Browser

Prerequisite Resources

Hardware

You will require access to a host environment onto which Content Services can be deployed. If you do not have access to an environment, we have provided instructions that can be used to start a Docker Container for training and demonstration purposes.

  • Administrator or root access to a host environment
    • Bare-metal Server
    • Virtual Machine e.g. VMWare or VirtualBox
    • Cloud e.g. AWS or Azure
    • Docker Container
  • Internet access for software downloads
  • A minimum of 6GB of memory available in the host environment
  • A minimum of 15GB of disk space available in the host environment
